wow those are some amazing pictures.
I really appreciate the thought that the photographer had in mind while setting up the shots. Truly an original idea for sure.

  4. Jim Roberts July 22nd, 2008 at 9:19 pm

These look like promotional photos done for Cypress Gardens in Florida!

  5. Sky August 26th, 2008 at 10:06 am

Wow!! I wonder how long it took to set up and shoot each scene. I feel breathless just looking at them.

  6. directory August 30th, 2008 at 2:39 am

Cool, time stopped. Would be cool to see some that are taken now.

  7. wick September 5th, 2008 at 5:03 am

    photoshopped

  8. Cliff Walker September 7th, 2008 at 12:48 am

Really impressive. And definitely not Photoshopped.

  9. Magic Odd Effect September 7th, 2008 at 2:09 am

Hardly photoshopped. Look at the pictures - they have that soft look to them that signifies 35mm film. It’s not a CMOS or CCD sensor.

Besides, look at the signs of the times. Photos of the “American Life” abound. The bathing suits are from the 50’s. So does the air conditioner in the window shot.

I looks Photoshopped. Yeah, the reflections are all wrong. Definitely Photoshopped.

  11. Graphic Designer September 16th, 2008 at 7:48 pm

Wick: These weren’t Photoshopped, they were taken in 1938 you idiot.

  12. Kurotori September 18th, 2008 at 1:54 am

    Totally awesome.
I saw a modern photographer take underwater shots of models in otherwise normal scenes on Americas Top Model a while back. Wish I knew his name still.
Really an amazing and creative concept.

  13. Bob Frost September 22nd, 2008 at 11:02 pm

Amazing how they managed to keep the women’s hair down.
    Very cool pics.

  16. Mollie October 9th, 2008 at 11:27 pm

These are definitely from the 50’s. Photoshopping has taken the fun out of photoshoots! How did the models manage to stay ‘down’?

  17. rose October 10th, 2008 at 7:48 pm

His name is Bruce Mozert, not Mozertom

  20. guided by vices October 12th, 2008 at 2:43 am

totally photoshopped. you can tell because the 1938 version of photoshop always made people wear old timey bathing suits when you select the ‘underwater’ effect.

  21. Chris October 12th, 2008 at 7:44 pm

fantastic stuff, I love the parodies at work :D

and hey wick, maybe it’s YOU who’s photoshopped =_=

As a native Floridian, I must point out the Silver Springs is not near the coast. It’s dead-center in the state near Ocala. In fact, that’s where the majority of our more beautiful springs are. Unfortunately, it’d be much harder to get away with these kinds of photos today since most of the springs are now state parks. The state takes every measure to protect the natural beauty of these gems.
I think it would have been amazing to see some of the less built up springs back then (Ichetucknee, Alexander, and Silver Glen..) before people started visiting them. Places like DeLeon Springs, Silver Springs, and Rainbow River were more touristy and privately owned. Wakulla Springs in the panhandle is the heaviest flowing spring in the world (and it’s actually kind of scary to snorkel near the giant gaping hole.. the water is often murky nowadays from nitrates leaching into the water system), but it’s been built up and was once privately owned.

I’m envious of the people way back when before things got so built up. William Henry Jackson was one lucky guy (look him up if you don’t know his work).

  24. Lauren October 18th, 2008 at 1:16 pm

    WOW!!!!!!

  25. jon October 19th, 2008 at 7:49 pm

Besides, look at the hair. hair doesn’t move like that anywhere above water. and in the window picture, you can see someone swimming in the background, bubbles and all from the kicks.

  26. TTG October 23rd, 2008 at 4:50 pm

I would be happy to see those swimsuits come back :P Styles repeat…
